Changing Seasons Means Changing Plans

Most people that are trying to build a great body tend to go through phases in their diets and routines. During the summer months you’ll find people trying to lookextra lean and shredded, and then during the winter those same people will be working on just building more muscle or at least not gaining too much weight.
This makes good sense since it seems like in the winter months we have more of the junk food holidays.
So what can you do to make sure that in the coming months you can keep on track with your training and supplementation to reach your goals? Here are a few ideas:
Motivation
I personally find that it’s hard to stay motivated to eat right, use my supplements, and work out consistently through the winter months. I can remember many times when I would get up to go to the gym in the morning, realize it was snowing outside, and then just go back to bed. Can any of you relate to this?
I know that this sort of action mainly comes from a lack of motivation. So do what you can to stay motivated during the coming months. Get involved in fitness and body building forums, find alternatives if the weather really is so bad you can’t make it to the gym. Just do something to keep yourself motivated and hitting your goals.
Avoid Crucial Mistakes
I read an article on Bodybuilding.com today by Alex Stewart called Ten Most Common Mistakes During the Off-Season or Mass-Building Stage. He makes some really good points in this article, some of which I want to highlight here.
Several of his points have to do with eating enough and eating right. Admittedly there is a lot of junk food to eat during the winter. Lots of pies at Thanksgiving, candy at Halloween, and egg nog (my favorite!) at Christmas. This really comes back to the motivation idea, but you also have to be disciplined enough to not go overboard on these tasty treats.
Whether its not eating enough or just eating the wrong things, don’t forget how important nutrition is to your overall plan. Set some goals and have some emergency plans for what to do at parties and other get togethers during the coming months so you don’t get too far off track.
With the change of seasons you’ll have to make some changes to how you do things. But change is good! It helps you to have variety, and if you do things right you’ll continue on to your goal of being having the body you’re working for!
